Amblyopia (sometimes referred to as 'lazy eye') means "lack of vision when no cause can be observed". However, in the 1960s and 70's the causes were identified as:
Our brains have to be programmed to see.
If any of the above conditions, or a mixture of them are present from birth or an early age, the vision fails to fully programme thedeveloping brain that's devoted to vision.
This is what amblyopia is.
